For years now I have been searching high and low for the perfect pair of boots. It needed to have the following attributes:
1. Nice stable heels, not too high.
2. Squared or rounded tip (no pointy boots, yuck)
3. No strings, frills, fur... Simple, high and that fits my fat leg.
Last week I found them, when I wasn't even looking. I bought a pair of black ones and took them to a party. They are beautiful, and warm and most importantly, comfortable. So the next day I went back and bought a second pair, in brown.
The importance of these boots is immense, because so far I only had trainers, and a pair of good looking but unbearably high ankle boots, that don't go even with skirts. Now that I have not one but two pairs of proper boots, I can stop looking so much like a teenager. I can actually look grown up. The repercussions on this are huge.
Yesterday I went out and bought a skirt. I'm unstoppable!

Those who know me well enough know that I'm more than a little crazy about Billy Corgan.
Last year, when he started publishing his blog on MySpace, I couldn't get enough of it. Then he stopped writting, because of his world tour, and I waited paciently. But tour over, he didn't return, and there were hardly any news about him anywhere.
He announced the Smashing Pumpkins were getting back together, but that was about as much information he would let out, leaving hardcore fans speculating about who was joining him, when would they re-emerge, and what would they sound like. Indeed speculate was everything we could do, as Billy Corgan had disappeared from the internet...
Now he's back. He only updated his profile and posted a little wee message on the board, but for the fans craving any information, that's huge! It probably means he's got something new coming out very soon. And that's all I really want. More music! Please, Billy...
This is the time where things should be slowing down... Work should be less, so I could do some shopping, prepare the house for Christmas and relax a little bit.
But instead, everything goes crazy. All the work I wished for during the year lands urgently on my lap. No, I'm not complaining at all... having piles of work to do this is what I aim for, and I love what I do.
It's just that Christmas doesn't wait for anybody, and I feel it creeping in everyday and I'm getting late on the preparations. Last year this happened and I didn't send Christmas cards to anybody. It's December already and this year's cards are still nowhere to be seen.
Then, there is the Christmas tree. That is really urgent. It should be there looking at me, telling me the day is just around the corner. I need it as a constant reminder that presents need to be bought sometime before the 24th, however busy I am.
I visited a friends' house last Sunday and they already had a huge Christmas tree in their living room, all lit up and decorated. They are coming over this weekend, so I set myself the deadline. No matter what, I will have my little pink tree up, waiting for them in the living room.
Oh no... I remember now! Chrismastime is here and I went to the West End on a Saturday. No wonder I'm exausted. People don't fit on the pavement and in the shops anymore and they spill onto the road. Next week I'll be out again... I just never learn!

Last night it was Franz Ferdinand's turn to rock, and they did not disappoint me. Not much to say about the gig, though. The music is great and they put on a good show. Maybe because I knew all of the songs quite well, I didn't feel it had many highs, although there weren't any lows either.
I was a bit far from the stage, and Alexandra Palace is quite a big venue. Also, the lights weren't too creative... I think the big screen in the background contributes to lazy light design. But as usual, the photos are here.
In the end, it was just another great gig for my amazing 2005 line up. I wonder if 2006 will be able to top it up...

The great visionary Acácio Jeremias finally has a website of his own and it was designed by pap-L. Acácio is a hillarious character (born out of the twisted mind of Diz Que Disse's creator, André Toscano) intent on asking the questions no one has ever though about. While we wait for his book to come out, we can enjoy his video-podcasts (the title and credit sequences were designed by pap-L as well). The first one is just out, and a few more are on the way. So go there and have a laugh! (Sorry, portuguese only...)
