Birthday

My grandfather Ildo would have been 82 years old today. He was this amazing man, very intelligent and generous, one of the best friends I ever had. I'm very proud that his hometown has decided to pay tribute to his work by naming a street after him.

I don't know what (if anything) happens when you die, but if you do go to a nice place, with internet and all, maybe he can read this, so...

Parabéns Avô Ildo!

Snow Patrol

Snow Patrol at the Koko in Camden : awesome! I didn't have big expectations for this gig and was really tired from yesterday's, but as soon as the music started, I forgot all about the pain and fatigue.
Gary Lightbody (what a name!) surprised me with his energy and voice, and the Koko really is a small beautiful venue, perfect for this sort of concert. As promised, here are the photos.

Placebo Gig

It was great. They didn't really play too many of the old songs, so they missed a few of my favourites. But do I love their new album Meds and really enjoyed it live. So here are the photos.

Snow Patrol in a while... camera is charged and ready! Check back tomorrow...

Gig time!

Today Placebo, tomorrow Snow Patrol! I guess I deserved a bit of a break by now... I'll have some pictures up tomorrow!

Beate Sonnenberg's new website

In case you're wondering what I have been up to in terms of work lately, let me tell you: a lot!

Which means that I'm in the middle of many different projects, in various stages, and hardly any of them finished so I can post them here. But soon, I'll have a lot to show, and will really have to go update my portfolio with all the new stuff.

One project that is indeed finished is Beate Sonnenberg's redesigned portfolio. It's lighter and more minimalistic than the previous version, all done in flash, and I think it shows off her beautiful stills in a perfect manner. And since we're talking photography, just to let you know, Roberto Rubalcava has also updated his portfolio with some great fashion shots, so please go and take a look.

I guess I have been busy with portfolios lately... Soon Marta Teives' and Cátia Peres' portfolios, also designed by yours truly, will be online too. I'll make a post about them as soon as they are out.

from Warsaw with love

I'm ashamed to confess I haven't been in touch with some of my friends in recent times. So when I decided to check out my friend Josée's website to see what she'd been up to lately, I was surprised by this very interesting project that had been going on since January.

Josée Pedneault is a visual artist from Quebec, working with photography/video/sound installations and she is currently in Warsaw, Poland, finishing a artist-in-residence program. The work produced will be object of the upcoming exhibition The conspiracy of the birds & other unexpected events, opening on the 21st of April. You can check this out on her recently redesigned and very cool website www.lilibonbon.net .

from Warsaw with love is a web-based art project in collaboration with Montreal photographer Christophe Collette. It's an image based conversation between the two of them, where an image is added every day. Unfortunately, it's scheduled to finish on the 24th of April, so I caught it right in the end, but the result is a beautiful sequenced collection of images.

Back from the dead!

Hello!? Anybody still here?
If you are still checking this blog, thank you for not giving up...

I appologise for being away for so long, without even leaving a note, but real life hijacked me for a while and kept me away from here, from messenger, from e-mails and phonecalls. Not that I did't have the time to do it... more like I didn't have the mind.

As I turned 29 in January, I slightly panicked on realising that I had only one more year to go until I turned 30. I decided it was time to tidy up my life, and the process took me way further than I ever thought it would. As a result I am now single again, working hard on being healthier, more organised, focused, independent.

I am really busy with work at the moment, but I promise I'll come here and post something everyday... it will be quite easy, as I have accumulated so much these past months. I'll even update the whole site one of these days, you'll see...

For now, I'll just leave you with my friend Caroline's new blog times::365. It's a very interesting idea, to start with, but even better executed, so well worth adding to your bookmarks.

meet acacio jeremias
acacio jeremias website

The great visionary Acácio Jeremias finally has a website of his own and it was designed by pap-L. Acácio is a hillarious character (born out of the twisted mind of Diz Que Disse's creator, André Toscano) intent on asking the questions no one has ever though about. While we wait for his book to come out, we can enjoy his video-podcasts (the title and credit sequences were designed by pap-L as well). The first one is just out, and a few more are on the way. So go there and have a laugh! (Sorry, portuguese only...)
